Planting & Care Instructions
-
Soil Preparation: Requires rich, well-draining, fertile soil high in organic matter. Potting mix: fine garden soil, cocopeat, and compost or vermicompost in equal proportions. Maintain soil pH between 6.2 and 7.0.
-
Sowing: Sow seeds 0.5 cm ($\frac{1}{4}$ inch) deep in seedling trays or nursery flats. Keep soil lightly moist in a warm, bright area protected from harsh rain until germination.
-
Watering: Water moderately around the plant base when topsoil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging and keep leaves dry to protect against fungal infections.
-
Spacing & Care: Transplant healthy seedlings (3–4 inches tall) into final pots spaced 1 to 1.5 feet (30–45 cm) apart. Pinch off the central shoot tip when young to encourage branching and more bloom sites. Provide a lightweight wooden or bamboo stake to support heavy flowering stems. Feed with phosphorus and potassium-rich organic manure every 2 weeks during budding. Spray neem oil solution to protect against aphids and powdery mildew.
