Planting & Care Instructions

  1. Soil Preparation: Requires light, well-draining sandy-loam soil rich in organic matter. Potting mix: equal parts fine garden soil, cocopeat, and compost or vermicompost. Maintain soil pH between 6.0 and 7.5.

  2. Sowing: Direct sow seeds into final grow bags or garden beds 1 to 1.5 cm ($\frac{1}{2}$ inch) deep. Space seeds 6 to 8 inches apart. Keep soil evenly moist until sprouts emerge. (Direct sowing is recommended to avoid root disturbance).

  3. Watering: Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist, especially during flowering and pod development. Avoid waterlogging around the root zone.

  4. Spacing & Care: Provide strong vertical support (a bamboo trellis, netting, or balcony railing) for vines to climb easily. As a nitrogen-fixing legume, it requires minimal chemical fertilizers; feed with organic compost or seaweed extract every 2–3 weeks once flowering starts. Spray neem oil solution to protect against aphids and pod borers.
